Here's a list of the main ICs in the Sega Genesis. I wasn't sure which numbers were relevant so I just wrote most of them down. Does anyone have a clue as to what the SEGA chips do? ------------------------Genesis Chip List--------------------- Main CPU: SCN68000C8N64 2285COE Additional CPU: Zilog Z80 Special SEGA chips: SEGA 315-5309 80pins 6046 912551c SEGA 315-5345 16pins SEGA 315-5313 128pins 7101 920262C SEGA 315-5308 80pins 6045B 920651B Misc chips: YAMAHA YM2612 24pins (This must be the sound chip.) 920267B NEC D4168C 28pins (This is probably the RAM chip. 64Kx8 maybe?) Has anyone figured out how to interface the Genesis? There's a big juicy connector on the side which looks _very_ interesting, but I have no idea what to do with it. Also, what is that 9-pin-din on the back for? I plugged a monitor cable into it, when I didn't realize that the RGB came out of the ROUND din, and it did some really nasty things. It would be nice if we didn't have to buy that $100 1200 modem, but we could use an existing modem that we already own as a replacement for the TeleGenesis.
