O T H E L L O ------------- Championship Othello Computer Science Association and the Association for Computing Machinery are proud to be sponsoring the 1989 North American Computer Othello Championship Tournament. The 1989 North American Computer Othello Championship will be held on February 18 and 19, 1989 at California's very own Sate University at Northridge. For folks that are not familiar with the area, that's 20 miles northwest of Los Angeles. The tournament will be an eight-round, Swiss style event with awards for the winners, and is open to computers of all makes, models, and sizes. Participation from programmers anywhere in the world is welcome; entrants need not be present, as they may play via phone or submit software and/or hardware to be run by volunteer representatives. One megahertz Z-80 machines have been know to outrun, and outperform multi-thousand dollar specially built machines dedicated to othello playing.
