[rec.games.misc] POR Tips Please

kern@tticms.tti.com (Scott Kern) (01/31/91)

Please send me any tips on Pool of Radiance. Since Christmas I have
been trying to get somewhere with no luck. In the interest of saving
time I have just been using the sample party,(Besides the fact that
I have no idea what the best combination of characters are).

 Misc. Gripes;

 1. To many battles.

 2. Battles take too long.

 3. Can't save the game unless encamped.

 4. Unless you are encamped at the inn you get attacked.

 5. When I finally make it back to the inn I have no platinum.

Any tips to make the game go a little quicker would be appreciated.
I'm getting bored of fighting kobolds, goblins, and orcs. I want
Commisions. Help.... Please!!!

 Thanks,
   Scott

You just haven't gotten far enough into the game. There are many places were
you will never be attacked while encamped. There are even more places where
you will rarely be attacked.

Pool of radiance hints:
I myself had a Paladin, a Ranger, a Thief, a Magic User, a Cleric, and a
Fighter. Single classed, for faster level rising.
To make those monsters more survivable: After you are done with a battle, do
not end it. Pick your most wanted to be high level character and leave him
alone. Let everyone else leave. Then end the battle. All the experience will be
concentrated on the one guy/girl.

Sorry. I stopped thinking there. The first hint applies to its sequel. So
does the sign. Sorry.
