I was wondering if anybody could help me decide on an optimal 386 system for my needs. I am looking for two main things: 1) Windows 3.0 performance 2) Simulation game performance (well, those and more HD space and super VGA graphics) :-) I need help with choosing the right processor - it must be at least a 386SX-20. I was wondering if anyone could e-mail me (or post, I read both groups regularly) their experiences with these systems - is Windows 3.0 sluggish on your system? How about when you run several Windows apps at once? Windows and DOS apps at once? I'm also looking for smooth animation in games like Wing Commander, Stunts, etc. and more speed for the new wave of Sierra games (SQ4, KQ5). I've played with a 386-33 cache that landmarked at 52.7, and I wasn't able to slow Wing Commander down enough to play it realistically, and when I did, the animation was still jerkier than an equivalent-landmark 386-25 (perhaps it was a fault of the program I used - AT-SLOW on the Sierra On-Line BBS).
