I would appreciate any information regarding programs to read (and write) Unix tar format tapes from VMS... information about public domain and commerical programs wanted. There are two VMS-based tar readers, one of which also has a tar writer. gordon@uw-june(.arpa?) FORTRAN reader only penstone@qucdnee1.bitnet C reader and writer I've used Gordon Davisson's FORTRAN version to read the BSD4.3 tape successfully (I modified the program a little to expand subdirectories and handle file names more appropriately under VMS4.4). I've used Sid Penstone's reader on the BSD tape. I wrote a tar file onto my disk and read it successfully with both readers. Make of that what you will, but I haven't actually tried to read using UNIX tar. Regards, Todd Aven the Softwear Sweatshop (301)345-1692
