Gentlebeings: I am currently enmeshed in a Software Design course, in which a five-member team has to implement a software system under VMS (currently we have v4.6), and which must be demonstrated to our professor (his "acceptance test") on a Rainbow running what's rather loosely called "the VT240 emulation" soft- ware. The problem is that, after testing the emulation package, it turns out NOT to be a "true" VT240 - more like a "half"-VT240. I.e. it supports ReGIS screen display, Sixel-mode screen-dump-to-printer, but apparently NOT Sixel- mode screen graphics, down-line-loadable character sets, or most of the other emulation modes which the true VT240 can perform. Worst of all, though, this beast's "identify terminal" response to the SET TERM/INQUIRE (identify terminal) command of VMS, MIS-IDENTIFIES ITSELF as having Sixel graphics, etc., which it DOES NOT have; therefore, there is NO way for our software on VMS to know whether it has available a true VT240 or this impostor. My query: does anyone have either a "better" VT240 package for the Rainbow, OR documentation for the "REGIS240" software (and/or the board required to use it) in conjuntion with the "TRM" terminal program, OR some sort of work- around that we can use on VMS to differentiate between the Rainbow-running- fake-VT240, and the REAL VT240 ? Replies via E-mail, please, as this is going to three different newsgroups. Thanks in advance. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Chris Chiesa <><><><><> <> {ihpn4|seismo}!{iuvax|pur-ee}!bsu-cs!cfchiesa <> <> cfchiesa@bsu-cs.UUCP <> <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
