[comp.sys.dec] DECnet and the IBM PS/2 Model 50

neuro@mcgill-vision.UUCP (Sean Marrett) (03/18/88)

Hello, Netland:

I have just been told that three IBM PS/2 Model 50's will land on my
desk in the next three weeks. Since these systems are intended for use in
medical image analysis (using the 8514/A - 8514 adapter/monitor), we
need to be able to talk to these machines at reasonble speeds.

At present, we run DECNet across a few small VAXen (730, 750, microVAX-II)
and PDP-11's. Does anyone have suggestion for hooking up these systems to
DECNet ?. If they were the old-style PC's, I would just use something
like DECet DOS or Community DOS with a Thin-wire Ethernet transceiver from
Excelan or Cabletronics, but I am not sure what is available for the PS/2 ?.

If you have any knowledge regarding DEC-PS/2 connectivity, please
e-mail to me directly, and I will summarize to the net if neccessary.

Much Obliged
