[comp.sys.dec] Multiprocessing with KA630-A CPU's

rflukes@violet.waterloo.edu (Richard F. Lukes) (08/16/88)

I am attempting to bootstrap a multiprocessor VAX using two KA630-A
(uVAX II) modules without success. I am posting in hopes someone
familiar with this procedure may point out where I am going wrong.

My setup is as follows:

Two KA630-A CPU modules in a BA123 chassis with RQDX and DEQNA.
The first processor (the arbiter) is cabled as it would be
in a uniprocessor, the second has been configured using the KA630CNF
module as the auxiliary processor #1. The BBU (battery backup unit)
power pack has been disconnected from the second processor. My
bootstrap procedure on the arbiter begins by defining a PROM boot
block in local memory which is mapped to Q22 bus space. The arbiter
starts up the auxiliary (via AUX HLT) and the auxiliary prints out
the following error message on the console:

	?53 INSFMAPREG
	?06 HLT INST
	    PC = 00000E0A

Any ideas whatsoever would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
