[comp.sys.dec] Unassigned MAC layer protocol

cyrus@pprg.unm.edu (Tait Cyrus) (10/14/88)

Anyone know what DEC is using the ethernet MAC layer protocol 0x8041
for? According to the RFCs (1010), this is "DEC unassigned".
Unfortunately, I am seeing a few of these packets directed to
a multicast address from a DEC VMS machine.

Thanks
