We have a circa 1985 VaxstationII. We have been given
a set of vcb02 boards,(video and one memory plane) and
would like to replace the vcb01 board.
Our problem:
When powering the system up with the new boards set to address
177400, the cpu led goes immediately to "A" which I am given
to understand means 'video board fault'. If I set the address
to 177410, powerup runs fine, the boards pass all the DEC
diagnostics we can run on them but the system does not default
to the vr260 as console. If we boot an Ultrix2.0 kernal with
the 'qd' option installed for the 177410 address the system crashes
right after it hits the qd board. My guess on reflection is that
there may be a vector confilt with some other boards but I don't
know for sure. The vector is not settable on the vcb02 that I can
see and the address selection is limited to xxx4[00-17].
Our system is configured with cpu, 4meg mem, 1meg mem, deqna, rqdx2
vcb02 and one memory plane in a BA-23.
We had the same initial result ("A") in a system configured with
cpu, 8meg memory, deqna, rqdx3.
Both systems were/are circa 8/85 VaxstationII's, the vcb02 is circa
2/88.
Any help would be appreciated.
