I am trying to attach a LN03R postscript printer to the serial printer port on a VAXstation 2000 (Single board with one printer port and one modem port). By running the lprsetup script and editing /etc/ttys and /etc/printcap I can establish spooling and accounting for the printer, and can get indication that it is ready and printing. However, all jobs run without error message but are left in the spooler and not printed. I have tried various combinations of baud rate, parity, etc. without success. The cable is DB-25 at the printer end, DB-9 at the CPU, with pins Printer CPU 1 1 2 3 3 2 5 4 6 5 7 7 20 6 Some help would be greatly appreciated. In particular, 1. How should the /etc/ttys entry look? 2. What should the type entry in gettycap be? 3. Do I need to change the /usr/sys/comf/"NAME" file? 4. What protocol set is needed (7-bit, XON?) 5. Is the cable setup correct? 6. Anything else I haven't thought of? If anyone out there has hands on experience with attaching a device to the VAXstation 2000, I'd sure like to talk to you. Thanks in advance. Bob Kinne Optoelectronics Computing Center UCB, Campus Box 525 VOICE (303) 492-3330 Boulder, CO 80309 INTERNET bobk@boulder.Colorado.EDU
