[comp.sys.dec] 9-track tapes for DS3100's???

Greetings;

My friendly local DEC salesman wants to know 
(and i must admit to a certain curiosity on my part):

Is it possible, i.e. has anyone successfully or does any one sell,
(i know, that's neither inclusive nor exclusive) 
to put a 9-track tape drive onto a DECstation 3100 SCSI port?

I assume that there are SCSI tape controllers for either Pertec or STC
tape drives (references requested).
