I'm assuming the answer here is yes...but just to make sure before I make a recomendation...does news work ok on the new MIPS based DECstation computers? Greg Corson 19141 Summers Drive South Bend, IN 46637 (219) 277-5306 {pur-ee,rutgers,uunet}!iuvax!ndmath!milo

NEWS? NeWS? Or news? Hmmm... Not NEWS, the Sony workstation. Not NeWS the SUN proprietary network extensible windowing system. You must mean usenet news software. Well, yes it does work. Fred

I don't know of any reason why it wouldn't work on the SPIM box (but I don't know anyone who is running it on one); and the licenses are cheap. Keith H. Bierman |*My thoughts are my own. If you mean USENET news software, it must work, or else how could I be replying to you? ;-) Regards, Frank

I think it is the SUN proprietary windowing system NeWS(did I get the silly caps right? :-) is what was in question. That is, the SUN-proprietary- windowing-system-that-you-must-write-your-own-driver-NeWS. I have heard people porting it to QVSS and SM devices.(They did it themselves.) If you can not get it from someone else(perhaps on the net?), you'll have to write it. In this case you may wish to wait for X11R4 stuff to come in. X11R4 should have the server for the DECstation that you can steal. --Bill -- collins@unmvax.unm.edu gatech!unmvax!collins
