[comp.sys.dec] DECstation 2100 and serial ports?

steve@fnord.umiacs.umd.edu (Steve D. Miller) (07/29/89)

   I hear a rumor from someone that the DECstation 2100 has no serial
ports (other than those for the keyboard and mouse, and opposed to the
3100, which has two additional ports). Could someone take a look at the
back of their machine and let me know?

Steve,

The 2100 is exactly the same as the 3100 except for a slower
CPU/FPU (12.5 MHz vs 16.67MHz) and slower cache (35ns vs 23ns).
Other than that, everything is exactly the same; same board etch;
same other components; and same serial ports. The software was
not redone; they run exactly the same binaries, both user and kernel.
