[comp.sys.dec] /usr/bin/Xcfb2

What is the difference between Xcfb and Xcfb2? What is the significance
of running Xcfb with the -dpi 100 switch? I have been running on a
100 dpi display without it for a while.

Xcfb2 is somewhat later than Xcfb; it did not see full field testing, and was
therefore not the default server.

It is somewhat later, which means some nasty bugs had been fixed.

But its important difference is that stipple fill is maybe 4X faster than
Xcfb, very important for ECAD applications.

But better is to upgrade to Ultrix 3.1/UWS 2.1, and use Xcfb from there.
It has very much better performance for many graphics operations. The upgrade
is quite painless; it is done in place without reinstallation of the base system.
