October 13, 1989 I am working on the creation of an "unattended backup system" for VAX cluster computers. These VAX cluster computers are using the VMS 4.7 operating system and are connected to HSC 50 disk controllers. This "unattended backup system" would include the use of 8mm tape drives that will also be connected to the HSC 50 disk controller. Could you tell me how you perform monthly or image backups to your 8 mm tape drive(s) (either the DCL or comments on what to do and what not to do). I am particularly interested on how to correctly perform monthly backups of several RA81/82/90 disk drives to 8 mm tape drives (performing an image or complete back up of several disk drives to one 8 mm tape cartridge).
