Quite simply, I am looking for a format program that will handle a DEC RA80 on an ancient and crusty VAX 11/750. newfs is complaining about bad blocks on one of the partitions so my desire is to reformat the disk and try again. Unfortunately, the management and maintainence of this VAX had become somewhat, err, lax and the original console tapes etc. are nowhere to be found. Sooo, does any one have a format the could handle my RA80? Perhaps patches to the format that comes with 4.3BSD (which is what the 750 is running)? I'm willing to try anything. All of this is being done in an effort to nurse just a little more usefulness out of a machine that is rapidly being replaced in our labs. -- Keith R.
