I have a problem and I hope someone can help me.
I have a DEC3100 running Ultrix V2.0 (Rev. 7)
and am trying to connect to an InterPro 32C (sysV w/berkely extensions)
on a different subnet using ftp.
So far I just get 'Host is unreachable' errors. Because they
are on different subnets! I know that. But I want the 3100
to 'realize' that that are really on the same wire.
ifconfig on the 3100 produces:
se0: 129.135.200.186
netmask ffffff00 (255.255.255.0)
flags=0x443 DYNPROTO,RUNNING,BROADCAST,UP
broadcast 129.135.200.255
and the 32C is:
Internet Address: 129.135.252.150
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 (ffffff00)
The 32C has a '/etc/gateways' file that is supposed to
make subnets look alike to the machine. I can't find the equivalent
on the 3100. I know that I could change the addresses of both machines
but the use of this machine necessitates that I not do that.
If anyone out there knows the magic command line or config file,
I surely would appreciate any help that I can get.
Meanwhile I will keep RTFM-ing.
Thanks in advance,
Doyle C. Davidson
