[comp.sys.dec] Dialing out on a 6220

Azog-Thoth@cup.portal.com (William Thomas Daugustine) (03/05/90)

Ive been trying to dial out on our VAX 6220, but have had no luck with
it. Perhaps someone can help me?

There is a modem that I can dial in on, so I assume that I can dial out.
(hopefully!). Were running VMS 5.2, using DCA hardware for the net (I dont
think its DECnet). I just cant seem to find the port that the modems
connected to. I dial into the VAX on one machine, and do SHOW USERS/FULL
to see what port Im at, hang up, and at the main console, SET HOST/DTE node
where node is the port shown to be before. No dice.

Is it possible? Thanx in advance.

I have developed a DCL procedure, DIALOUT.COM, that will let you dial
out using a Racal-Vadic or Hayes-compatible modem at various speeds,
then go into terminal mode or transfer data using various protocols
(Kermit, C-Kermit, Xmodem, Zmodem, or CALOUT).

Suggest you log onto this BBS from a PC or something and download or
capture DIALOUT.COM, which is in file area 26. You will have to customize
it to your particular installation, but that should present no problem.
