Does anyone have any clues on how to bring up a Sony Read/Write Optical on a DECstation 3100? I added it to scsi_data.c and it is recognized but I can't really do anything to it - rzdisk, mkfs, and such don't work. Thanks. -Devin P.S. if you're reading this on comp.unix.ultrix, make sure you mail me or follow up to comp.sys.dec as I don't read c.u.u. Thanks. P.P.S I CAN do a low level (from the boot prom) scsi format on it. Yampalimardilor * a.k.a Devin Hooker Mage School, Glantri * University of Colorado-Boulder (Grad Student) * (Undergrad Student)

I don't see anything in my manuals about formatting SCSI stuff from the boot proms. I have tried rzdisk on a SCSI floptical without luck. -- John Kohl <jtkohl@ATHENA.MIT.EDU> or <jtkohl@Kolvir.Brookline.MA.US> Digital Equipment Corporation/Project Athena (The above opinions are MINE. Its not documented, but if you do scsi ? at the boot prompt, you see lots of interesting options, including formatting a device. scsi pb will Probe the Bus, scsi rs will reset the bus. All of this is quite useful. Michael M. Meyer Statistics/Academic Computing Carnegie Mellon University.
