[comp.sys.dec] indexed files in VMS 4.7

Could anybody please post or mail me a quick explaination of indexed files in 
VMS 4.7 ?  If the explaination for setting up and using these files is short, 
I'd rather not have to dig out the manuals and learn it for myself.  Thanks in 
advance.
