The Computer Sciences Department at Purdue University will decommission three (3) VAX 11/780's during the next few months. Two of these machines are available now, with the third machine ready in several months. Pricing has been established on all of the machines. While pricing may be negotiable, configuration is probably not. An older 780 with 4 megs memory (old style, 16K chips, non-expandable), Emulex disk controller, 2 massbus adapters, TU77 tape drive (1600 bpi), FPA, Interlan Ethernet board and Pronet board (token ring), 48 ports, and Decwriter console is $3500. The second 11/780 consists of 4 megs of memory (new style, 64K chips, expandable), 24 ports, FPA, 2 massbus adapters, Emulex disk controller, DEUNA ethernet interface and Decrwriter console. It is priced at $4500. Our third machine which will be available later this year is an 11/780 with 8 megs of memory (new style, 64K chips, expandable), FPA, 48 ports, DEUNA ethernet interface, Interlan ethernet interface, 2 massbus adapters, Emulex disk controller, TU78 tape drive (6250 bpi) and Decwriter console. This machine is priced at $9000. If you are interested in all three machines, it will save me a great deal of paperwork, so please make an offer. The Computer Science Department at Purdue University is soliciting bids for two VAX 11/780 computers. The first machine consists of the main CPU cabi- net, FPA, Unibus expansion cabinet, and TU77 tape drive. It has 4 megabytes of "old style" memory (16K chips), an Emulex VMaster disk controller with no disks, Pronet 10 Mbit Ethernet card, and 3 Able DH/DM terminal port cards (16 ports each). The second machine consists of the main CPU cabinet only. It has 4 megabytes of "new style" memory (64K chips), an FPA, and an Emulex VMaster disk con- troller with no disks. Each machine contains one Unibus adapter and one Massbuss adapter. A list of DEC board numbers can be provided if requested. The machines were pur- chased with VAX/VMS licenses which have not been kept up-to-date. These machines are available immediately and will be sold to the highest bidder. We will consider selling the two machines separately or as parts, but preference will be given to bids for both machines. Please respond to this bid request by fax, or mail no later than 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 16th. We reserve the right to reject any and all bids. Your response should be sent to: Steve Hare Research Facilities Manager Purdue University Computer Sciences Department hare@cs.purdue.edu (ARPA) ...!purdue!hare (UUCP) 317-494-7820 317-494-0739 (fax)
