I recommend *not* getting pgdb.diff.Z, but the newer gdb-3.5-mips-diffs.Z (which is relative to gdb 3.5). More details: Patches to make gdb 3.5 run on a DECstation (and probably other MIPS-based machines) are available by anonymous FTP from pokey.cs.wisc.edu in pub/gdb-3.5-mips-diffs.Z. (A copy is also on gatekeeper.dec.com.) They are in diff-form, without context (minor slip-up), so patch cannot figure out the correct file to patch. (You have to specify the filenaem, which should be obvious from patch's prompting. You also have to pre-create (with 'touch') the new mips-specific files.) There are minor problems, but it works reasonably well. I may or may not get around to working on it again; if so, I will announce it on gnu.gdb,bug. Gdb 4.0 will have mips support bundled in, though it may be based on a different port. --Per Bothner bothner@cs.wisc.edu Computer Sciences Dept, U. of Wisconsin-Madison
