Machine: VAX 8800, 48MB memory, 2 RA-90s on KDB-50, ULTRIX 3.1. We have had 25 crashes since April 12, with the following error messages on the console: trap type 8, code = 8b18800c, pc = 8006c9cd (code and pc numbers vary slightly) panic: Segmentation fault followed by a stack trace. The crashes have all been consistent, with adb analysis showing the problem to be corrupted pointers in the connection block between the class driver and the port driver. The cause of the corruption is unknown. The crashes have happened under all load conditions and at random times of day. I've been working with DEC on this, but we haven't found the problem yet. Has anyone seen this type of problem? I'd appreciate any pointers or suggestions. Dennis Michael UNIX Services Manager Academic Information Resources Stanford University dennis@jessica.stanford.edu
