Hi, I would like to connect a Modem to a terminal server, and have a setup where a user on a VAX can type a command, or do a SET HOST, and it will get the Modem to dial a local bulletin board. Can I just put the Modem on an application port and do SET HOST LTA????: ? I've been messing with this for some time and can't suss it out. Thanks. john

Can I just put the Modem on an > application port and do SET HOST LTA????: ? I do believe that there was a [series of] posts[s] on comp.os.vms quite a while back on just this topic. The solution had to do with connecting the modem to, say a DMF32 port that has modem-control on it (not 2 through 7), so the modem is on a TXAxxxx terminal (in the same way in which you might hook up a direct-connect LA100). The posting also had VMS-specific program(s?) to utilize the new service. Unfortunately, I don't have these posts, but I imagine that they might be either on a DECUS tape somewhere, or in the INFO-VAX archives... -/ Dave Caplinger /--------------------------------------------------------- President, Student Chapter of ACM at the University of Nebraska at Omaha acmpres@zeus.unomaha.edu ..!uunet!unocss!dent ACMPRES@UNOMA1
