Hello, From the old days, we still have quite a few tapes that were written by RSX-11 in BRU (Backup and Restore Utility) format that we want to use on our unix system. Does anyone know of a publicly available program that can decipher these BRU tapes and, for instance, convert them to a more convenient (tar of cpio) format? Or, were can I find details on that BRU format so that I can write a conversion program myself? Thanks! -- Pieter H.A. Pieter, I don't believe there are programs that do what you want. I know there are programs that make directories of BRU tapes. However these, for as far as I know, all run under RSX. There is one other possibility though. I'll be presenting a session about the layout of BRU savesets at the next European DECUS in Cannes (Sept. 5th). You could talk to me there if you want to. If you decide to write something yourself, let me warn you: it won't be trivial! -Han
