[comp.sys.dec] HELP retrieving data from old PDP 11 system

merlyn9@cbnewsd.att.com (michael.t.sedwick) (08/31/90)

	The following situation exists:

Micro PDP/11 running system, no longer supported by DEC
		TK25 type tape
		RX50 for OS { I can't be sure of this... not my system...}

system dates bake to roughly 1985 (oh so old) and is running an
accounting program called "Multi User Digital Accounting System"
which was written by "REALWORLD Accounting" and then licensed to DEC.

The people who own this system wish to 'migrate' the data from
this platform onto an INTEL 80x86 based platform. What they would like is
a way to get the existing data in the accounting package written to one
of the following formats:

		o ascii (simple format)
o SDF ascii for loading into dbase IV
		o other dbase readable format

They are trying to avoid having to re-enter this data manually.
DEC in Chicago & San Juan(PR.) have both declined to aid in assiting.
As a last effort they might be willing to have someone assist in this effort.

Anyone who knows something about this software package or getting
data extracted from within it, I would greatly welcome ""ANY"" assistance
with ANY portion of this... even a lead in a positive direction.
