/* Written 2:41 pm Sep 14, 1990 by kbesrl@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu in ux1.cso.uiuc.edu:comp.unix.ultrix */ /* ---------- "I can't print on the line printer!!" ---------- */ I am having a problem printing stuff on my line printer (LP25). I am running Ultrix V4.0 on a MicroVAX II. When I use lpq, it says "no daemon present". Even if I use lpc to restart the daemon, it wouldn't work. I checked lpd-errs file and the message there is as follows: /usr/lib/lpd: lp: cannot open /dev/lp0 () /usr/lib/lpd: lp0: cannot open /dev/lp0 () My script printer on /dev/tty06 is working fine. The line printer was working fine under V3.1. I'd appreciate if somebody can help me out? I already did the following: 1. Kill daemon and restart it. 2. Remove /dev/lp0 and made it again. 3. Disable and then enable queing, printing, etc. 4. The protection on /dev/lp0 is crw-rw-rw- 5. I removed /dev/printer and it didn't have any effect either. (some of the above things might look silly, but I am no expert in unix and I thought I'll try everything that is remotely related). Thanks. -- sudhakar sudha@kbesrl.me.uiuc.edu/* End of text from ux1.cso.uiuc.edu:comp.unix.ultrix */
