Our problem: we have a ds5000/200 with the original firmware and a second one with the revised firmware (V5.3c). While we can boot without any problems from a Hitachi DK515C from the old firmware we cannot bring up the system with the new firmware using the command boot 5/rz1/vmunix -a The system with the new firmware accesses the disk twice before it gives up telling can't open ultrixboot KN02-AA V5.3C (PC: 0xbfc01b68, SP: 0xa000f574) We used exactly the same disk (with Ultrix 4.0) on the DS 5000/200 with the older firmware level. Some data from our configuration: >> cnfg 7: KN02-AA DEC V5.3c TCF0 ( 8MB) 6: PMAD-AA DEC V5.3a TCF0 (enet: 08-00-2b-15-45-2c) 5: PMAZ-AA DEC V5.3b TCF0 (SCSI=7) 0: PMAG-CA DEC V5.3a TCF0 (PX -- D=8) >> cnfg 5 ----------------------------------------- DEV PID VID REV SCSI DEV ========================================= rz1 DK515C HITACHI CP16 DIR >> printenv boot=5/rz1/vmunix -a testaction=t haltaction=h more=24 #=7 console=1 osconsole=0,7 HELP!! Our local DEC people want to upgrade the firmware of our running system too!! Has something changed in connection with ultrixboot? Any ideas? - Gustaf Neumann Joerg Lenneis ------------------------------------------------------------------- Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration Augasse 2-6, A-1090 Vienna, Austria Tel: +43 (222) 31-336 x4533 Fax 347-555
