[I'm posting this for a friend of mine. I don't know how (in)appropriate a BBS ad is here, but he wanted to invite people who were interested in the DEC related stuff, not just people who wanted to call a BBS, nice though it is.] Having occasionally wanted to check out something on one of the SIG tapes without either the tape or a drive handy, and having a system that easily supports dial-up public access, I've put everything since the late 70s on line and invite anyone interested to call: Host: Billy's Place, Culver City, California Available: 24 hours Phone: (213) 837-0892 (Tymnet: 9203, Telenet: CALAN) Logon/PW: 1000/moving_target Modem speeds: 300/1200/2400 only Protocols: Kermit, VTCOM/TRANSF, Xmodem Also available are several other items not on the tapes such as DUCM V5, Kermit-11 T3.60, MS-Kermit V3, UCL+ V8.01b, even a few decent ascii line printer pics.. Access is free other than whatever it costs to phone in. Kermit here may be used to look at directories, type files, and has been modified to handle logical disks using the same command syntax as RT-11. As for actually getting files, if you haven't got Kermit both TRANSF and Xmodem are included in this one. Kermit is accessable through a bulletin board that began as a spare time project back in the days when it was some fun having a multi-line system open anonymously to the public. Though it's not currently very busy, it does have a cb simulator with rather spiffy screen handling, a few other interesting items, and details about file downloading in Help's K topic. For those in the Los Angeles area the H topic lists a couple other local numbers which may reduce or eliminate "message unit" charges. Billy Youdelman 3-Nov-90
