[comp.sys.dec] Problems, etc. seem to have been resolved.

"Kick goes my a**"

Actually, it's not ALL my fault; after all, who would ever
suspect A DEFECTIVE DRIVE CONTROLLER ?????????????????????

I'm not familiar with controller architecture, etc., and I
guess I just ASSumed that if I could boot RX50's from a controller,
that the controller must be functional.

I determined that it wasn't recognizing the 2nd hard drive, but
figured it to be cabling/interface problems. I would still be
pulling my hair out if it weren't for the fact that the controller
deteriorated further, to the point where I could ONLY access the
floppies, and then operation was, to say the least, erratic.

Score -

ME: +10 gray hairs
WALLET: -199 in repair costs, plus ??? in problem isolation.
SERVICE COMPANY +199 for a repair that will probably cost them $25.

After poking around a while, I found a company in Massachusetts that
would repair my ailing RQDX3 for $200. I guess they will upgrade it
to current Rev., as well.

Why would DSKINT format the drive, if the operating system
lock up whenever it attempted access ?????????????????????
