Hi, We are running DECSystem 5400 with two CXY08 serial adapters as the Finnish EUnet backbone. We have both ISDN adaptors and V.32 modems (US Robotics DS) connected to the serial ports, most of them are configured at 19.2kbps. Currently we are using Ultrix 3.1A without any major problem, however we would be greatly interested to upgrade to the newer Ultrix version. We have tried to upgrade to Ultrix 4.0, but we had serious problems with the serial ports. After booting the system everything works just fine, however ofter couple of hours the serial lines stop working one by one. Some of the modem signals work, ie. modems are still answering, however getty will not wake up to the incoming calls. This seems to be problem on the Ultrix side because the ISDN lines with special getty continue to work. We have also tried Ultrix 4.1, but we were unable to test the serial ports because I had problems with getting Sendmail 5.64 + IDA 1.3.1 to work correctly. The serial ports worked at least for a short time. We cannot stay with the Ultrix 3.1 forever, so I would like to get in touch with DEC users familiar with the CXY08 cards and similar equipment. Also I would like to know if others have got CXY08's to work with Ultrix 4.0/4.1 or are having similar problems. Thanks! Regards, Petri Ojala ojala@fuug.fi
