[comp.sys.dec] PSI problem on RSX-11M

kaandorp@ecn.nl (Sjaak Kaandorp) (11/13/90)

Problem with PSI on RSX11M.

Once in a few weeks PSI comes into a situation that it becomes very slow, and
after some time it doesn't function anymore. The rest of the system still works
fine. To make PSI functioning again we have to reboot the system.

When the problem exists NCP gives sometimes failures as:
NCP -- Show failed, operation failure
Insufficient buffer space for additional EVENTS

The tracer shows the following:
     - Receiver Not Ready frames from host to network.
     - Restart packets from network to host.

Calls from an application program to PSI fail with in the IOSB the status
IE.NLN (No LuN) or IE.RSU (ReSources Unavailable).

With the NCP commando sho sys we see that the active control buffers increased
from 2 to 5 (max active control buffer = 8).

Help: Is this a known problem (Digital said not) ?
Is this a PSDN problem or a PSI software problem ?
Has anyone dealed with this problem ?
Has anyone experience with PSI under RSX11M ?

Products/versions: PDP11/24 512k PSDN interface DUP11, RSX11M V4.1
                   PSI V2.1, CEX V4.0, PSDN Datex-p Germany.

Sounds like CEX might be out of buffers. Could you show us the results of a
NCP SHOW SYSTEM COUNTERS command?

You're not running the latest, greatest and supported version of RSX P.S.I.
You might want to try V3.0.
