It's probably been discussed here already, but I must have missed it. I am aware that that RD5[34] disks are Maxtor assemblies, that the RZ2[23] disks are Connor, but what about the new RZ24, and the RZ5[5-7] disks? I'm betting that these are also Maxtor, as DEC seems to have coincidentally (?) continued its RD 53,54 line as RZ 55,56,57, with the only diffierence being ST506 vs SCSI (5 1/4 " form factor, etc. . .) Also, does anybody know about DEC's DECstation PC line of disks and their manufacturer(s)? What would it take to mount a RZ56 SCSI disk (direct from its manufacturer) into a BA42 expansion box? Special brackets? I presume that the SCSI interface and power supply are standard (I was able to do something similar with a Fujitsu M2263S).

The RD53 is a Micropolis disk. The RD54 is a Maxtor. I believe the RZ5x are Micropolis, but I haven't seen one to check, so use this advice at your own risk 8-) Terry Kennedy Operations Manager, Academic Computing terry@spcvxa.bitnet St. Peter's College, US terry@spcvxa.spc.edu (201) 915-9381

The RZ24 is -almost- a CP3200F. Digital pays Conner to put different ROMS in the RZ24 version of the CP3200F. Other than the different ROMS (which make the RZ24 useless in just about any other machine, BTW) the drives are identical.
