Hello, my boss told me I should be able to get some help here. :-) I am a student programmer working for the computer labs here at Oakland University. We recently purchased over $1.5million worth of DEC workstations, minis, and PC clones. So anyway, here's my problem. In order to better serve the non-computer people using the labs, we want to run a menu system allowing simple access to the MS-DOS software sitting on our servers. I have a menu system that is quick and capable but there is a slight problem. For speed, it writes out a batch file. Obviously, if there are 50 people writing out batch files, each name needs to be unique. Our idea was to use the PCSA DNetlib that we received when we bought everything. Great, there is even a function called getnodename()! So all I have to do is call this function and write out the batch file using the nodename of each PC. WRONG! I have no example of how to make this call. No problem, real programmers don't need examples. However, it appears that I don't have all the necessary source either. Getnodename() calls a function called decnet() and I can't find that anywhere. Has anybody actually written MS-DOS software using DNetlib? Any help whatsoever would be most appreciated. Thanks for any replies. Jeff P. -- Jeffrey D.
