Okay, this seems simple, but I'm going nuts. I'm trying to connect a Multi-Tech Multimodem 224E (2400 bps, Hayes-compatible, etc.) to the serial communications port on my DS 2100 so I can run uucp. Now, I cannot 'tip' to any sites. When I try sending data directly through /dev/ttyd0 the lights on the modem flash and then it keeps rapidly sending the data right back to me (I know this because I'm reading /dev/ttyd0 in another window). It does this for a little while and then stops. Without going into great detail about my set-up, let me say: 1) The modem works perfectly on a PC or VT320 2) The cable is good 3) I ran uucpsetup to set-up the modem (I may have done this wrong-- never done it before :-). Has anybody had similar experiences and solved this? When I hook up a VT320 to that port and made the necessary changes to my /etc/ttys file and was able to log-in. The tty turned out to be tty00. Is this always true (for that port)? I guess I don't understand how /dev/tty* files work. (Please don't flame me if this is in the manuals somewhere... I've looked over all of them several times, but I have found anything that's very detailed). Thanks.. -- Dan
