Ive recently run across an error message, and am sort of baffled by it. But first. Of course, I run RT-11XM (v5.1) on a Pro-350 with 1.0 mb of RAM (and SH CONFIG even reports 1024k of RAM). Ok, now my problem is this: certian programs I run report back with a message similar to to: ?KMON-F-Insufficent memory. Two programs Ive had problems with. One is a file compression utility called LZC.SAV (which I downloaded from a PDP-11 BBS that was posted here awhile ago). The other is a version of Kermit that some on the net sent me. Now, on the Kermit, there is a little something called VBGEXE.SAV that loads and runs the Kermit (this Kermit and VBGEXE are all included on a boot disk which boots to RT v5.4) Now, why is this? I have a full megabyte of memory, and this LZC.SAV program is just under 90 blocks long (90 blocks at a 512k block equals 46k). Is it perhaps linked in some special way? Also, this above VBGEXE.SAV seems to only run under the RT v5.4. I tried it under 5.1, and it gives me a monitor trap (and I dont have the money to spend to uograde to v5.4:-) Perhaps this LZC.SAV is meant to run only under a 'true' PDP-11 processor? (I would hate to spend lots of LD calling to download stuff, and find out later that I cant run it!) Thanx in advance. Billy D'Augustine Azog-Thoth@cup.portal.com
