I just found out why (at least possibly why) the 'stty exta' I mentioned in my previous article did not work for me. The KMC11 that was installed on our VAX some time ago had to be put on our RJE link; it is not assisting the DZ11 for the terminals. If the KMC11 is required for the 'stty exta' to work properly, then I goofed. If the KMC11 is just an extra which helps the CPU via offloading, then my objection stands. My extreme apologies to the author of the original 'stty exta' article, -- The MAD Programmer -- 919-228-3313 (Cornet 291) alias: Curtis Jackson ...![ floyd clyde ihnp4 mhuxv ]!burl!rcj

Another reason why "stty exta" might not work on your DZ is that the "exta == 19.2" behavior *is* undocumented, and Dec never promised it would work on all DZs, and the DZ-lookalike manufacturers may not all have done it that way. It is useful when such accidents work, but one should not count on them on a given set of hardware without testing first. -- Henry Spencer @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!henry
