John, I will post here and then send it by mail to you.

Do you know what operating system you want to run?  What are you planning to 
do with the system?  Real Time Data Acquisition?  Word processing?

My choice would be RT-11 for both the above!  The alternatives could be PTS-11
(Paper tape based :-) or an unmapped RSX-11M system.

What kind of 8 inch disks do you have?  I can help with RX01 (single density)
or RX02 (DEC's bastard double density).  Hard Sectored disks will be hard.

Is it a home system?  DEC Australia offers a $20 home license for DECUS
members.

Do you want to upgrade it?  I have a friend who is switching from a PDP-11/34
system to a VAX-11/750 system.  Good things will become available.
