I've got a problem trying to startup DECwindows on the console of my 5000/200
from within my ttys file. I've got the following line in /etc/ttys:
:0 "/usr/bin/login -P /usr/bin/Xprompter -C /usr/bin/dxsession -e" none
on secure window="/usr/bin/Xcfb -class StaticGray"
(the above is really one line, I've broken it for this posting)
and the following line for console:
console "/etc/getty std.9600" vt100 off secure # console terminal
What happens is I get the initial "grey" screen with the 'X' in the middle,
and then, nothing... Looking at the system with ps shows, among other things:
USER PID %CPU %MEM SZ RSS TT STAT TIME COMMAND
root 723 0.0 2.3 1928 604 ? S 0:00 - -class StaticGray :0 (Xcfb)
And, if I look at my system error log, I see lines like the following:
Feb 18 16:40:54 localhost: init: '/usr/bin/login -P /usr/bin/Xprompter
-C /usr/bin/dxsession -e :0' failing, sleeping
I've checked everything I can think of against a 3100 system that is
running DECwindows without a hitch. I've reported the problem to DEC, but
they've not returned my call now for several days.
I'm running Ultrix 4.0 if it matters. Anybody seen this? I would really
appreciate some help.
Thanks.
