2 weeks ago I started having stillborn DECterm windows on my DECstation 2100 running: Ultrix V3.1D (Rev. 54) Worksystem V2.2 System #1. The top bar added by the window manager to every window with the title and the three buttons: iconify, move-below and resize is always fine. The rest of the DECterm window is dead. It isn't refreshed if expposed, and I can't get any keyboard or mouse input to it. When this happens to me I iconify the dead window to get it out of my way (Q: Is there a way for me to ask to window manager to kill the window, or can I only 'kill -9 process_number' it?) and I start up a new dxterm, which usually has no problems. Currently I avg. about 3 of these stillborn windows per session. Any other windows, including other DECterm's, that I pop up are as perfect as ever. The problem seems to be becoming more frequent, and today for the first time I had a window die after about an hour of work. There've been no changes in load or sw on my machine other than yp being added and I've also increased tyhe number of nfs-mounted disks from 4 to 8. Any solutions or hints out there?
