[comp.sys.dec] reading RT-11 floppies on 1.2Mb AT drive

an288@cleveland.Freenet.Edu (Mark Hittinger) (03/10/91)

Hi -

I developed a utility to do this awhile back, the fundamental technology
is widely avaiable in an rx-50 device driver that is in the public domain.

The rt-11 file structure is documented in the rt-11 manual set, I think there
is a one or two page part that is important (involving the header and the
directory).

I can send you the source code for this, it is written in oregon pascal-2
but should be pretty understandable. The code asks for a drive number, and
copies all the files off the floppy and onto the current directory (ms-dos).

As I remember there was a slight pain in the ass with this involving sector
interleaving......

good luck...
