	Hi!.

I just picked up a PDP11 at an auction. And need some help..
if you know anything about this rather heavy machine please
	contact me..

Have you ever booted one?. I can boot RT-11 off of DL0, but
am unable to do anything with DL1. It seems to load up the needed
device driver for the first RL02, but I don't know how to tell it
	two things..

		1) That I have another drive..
		2) That I have a printer, (although I don't know
which port to plug it into....)

Of course a manual would be handy.. but I didn't get one.

Any suggestions? helpfull hints.. [And as an aside does anyone
know how much it actually weighs?]

	Cheers,
			Erin

Hello Erin, If you `picked it up' it must be one of the later
portable/mobile models. Or else one of the rather early small
systems. If it is real heavy it MAY have real memory (ie CORE),
you know - the iron stuff.

You did not mention a model no or system id. It helps
greatly - the pdp-11 ranges from single board systems (eg falcon,
11/21?, 11/53, 11/93) which only need the addition of power and
minimal I/O up to large commercial systems such as the DECsystem
500 machines in large cabinets (a la 11/780).

The large 11/70 systems would weigh up to half a ton for
the CPU and memory. But I dont think you would be trying to run
RT-11 on it. (Far too sophisticated - too commercial).

Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS on the choice of an excellent
personal/professional computer. Even if you only bought it for
home use I am sure you will find it rewarding and educational.
