I recently switched platforms; from a Mac to a VAXstation 3100. Can anyone provide me with suggestions for a graphics package on the 3100 that will allow me to produce briefing overheads, network diagrams, etc. If it helps at all, I'm looking for something with the functionality of MacDraw in the mac world. That is, a basic object-oriented drawing application. All I've been able to locate so far are CAD packages for the 3100, and their prices have been prohibitive. Please e-mail and I'll post if interest is there. Thanks. -- Bob Tonnies -- tonnies@cc.utah.edu

I'm pretty partial to idraw. I understand that there's a product called Island Draw from Island Software that works well too. If you don't have one, you might want to ask your sales rep for our listing of third party software - I imagine that Island Draw is probably listed in it. The source code for idraw (which is what I use to draw network diagrams) is available on gatekeeper, but it's a bit of work to build, so if that worries you, I'd suggest going for a commercial product. _MelloN_

In addition to idraw (which is part of the Interviews distribution from stanford) there is xfig and tgif (export.lcs.mit.edu). Both are quite nice. I have not used tgif much, but xfig is very easy to use in the sense the menus are very easy to understand. -R J Auletta
