HELP HELP HELP!!!! Just received a pdp 11/44, and am tring to install Ultrix II V2.0 on it. After running SYSGEN, I ran usat like manual says, and many of the programs fail with: Illegal instruction - core dumped Programs like awk, iostat, and a few others seem to fail. Any help would be great!!! Thanks!

Two possibilities: 1) You're missing some hardware feature. For example, I know that 2BSD insists on having a floating point unit. The FPP is a M7093 in slot 3. 2) You've got some broken hardware. Try running the diagnostics for the 11/44 (if you have a diagnostic tape/disk). The 44-specific diags are named K-something. So, try KKAA, KKAB, KKAC, KFPA, KFPB and also ZMSP to test memory.
