A question for you DEC "i18n" gurus. On a vt100/vt102 (?), ESC} (escape close curly brace) and ESC| (escape vertical bar) are the escape sequences used to designate JIS X0201 Kana (single byte Kana) strings. Assuming that the ASCII set has been designated into G0 and G3, JIS X0208 has been designated into G1, and JIS X0201 into G2: (1) Is this an acceptable arrangement of codeset grouping? (2) If so, then once an ESC| does a locking shift of G3 into GR, how does one determine when to do a locking shift of G1 into GR? (3) If one of the ISO 8859 codesets is being used (instead of ASCII) in conjunction with a JIS X0201/X0208 environment, are there special codeset announcement mechanisms used to remove potential ambiguities between the ISO 8859 set and JIS X0208 set? Or in lieu of answers, can someone point out a DEC contact for internationalization questions?
