Our institute has some datacommunications links with remote sites. At the
remote sites are special developed hardware which implements a synchronous
protocol. Local we have a PDP11 with a DU-11. The synchronous protocol is
of our own design, so it is not DDCMP, HDLC, etc.
The PDP11 will be replaced by a VAX4000/300. Our problem is that we can't
find a replacement for the DU-11. What we looking for is a fully programmable
synchronous interface with DMA capability for the microbus.
The Digital interfaces are not suitable because they work only with standard
protocols like DDCMP, HDLC, SNA, etc.
Does anyone knows a non-Digital interface suitable for this application or
has anyone any susgestions for another solution.
