Have have two DECstations running Ultrix 4.1. I would like to be able to use some of the public domain X window system software such as idraw, xfig, etc., most of which is X11 R4, and perhaps use the Motif toolkit widgets. I would appreciate answers to some of these questions from anyone that has purchased the MOTIF toolkit: 1. I have heard that the Motif 1.1 Developers kit, along with Ultrix 4.2 gives a full X11 R4 environment. Is this true? Should I then be able to build any R4 public domain or X11R4 distribution software. What manuals come with this kit? 2. What is in the Motif Developer's documentation. Is it a bunch of manual's similar to the XUI programing manuals that came with the DECstation. 3. What is the difference between the following products (advertised in the November Desktop Computer Users Catalog and are they Motif version 1.1: QA-YMBAA-H5/CAV OSF/Motif DECwindows developers kit QL-YMAAC-AA/CAV DECwindows Developer Kit for OSF/Motif There is certainly a huge difference in the price, I do not particularly want to build the X11R4 distribution from scratch, Andrew Telford -- /\/\ Process Control Group / / /\ BHP Research - Melbourne Laboratories / / / \ 245 Wellington Rd, Mulgrave, 3170 / / / /\ \ AUSTRALIA \ \/ / / / \ / / / Phone : +61-3-560-7066 \/\/\/ AARnet/Internet : ajt@bhpmrl.oz.au
