HELP, We are trying to set up a LaserWriter onto one of our DS5000s through one of the serial ports. We have managed to successfully print small (~50kb) ps files, but trying to print large (>250kb) files bombs out completely, with the following results: - the first part of the file is sent to the printer (watching the activity light) - 'lpd' goes to sleep - the printer receives nothing for a while, so it assumes the trans- fer was aborted - 'lpd' wakes up, and sends more of the file - the printer assumes that it is being sent junk, and throws away the rest of the file 'printcap' is shown below: # @(#)printcap 3.1 (ULTRIX) 4/20/90 # Laser Writer on daisy lp|lp0|lw|Laser Writer:\ :lp=/dev/tty00:sd=/usr/spool/lpd:\ :lf=/usr/adm/lpd-errs:\ :br#9600:fc#0177777:fs#0000003:\ :sf:sh:xc#0:xs#041040: # :ms=-isig,igncr,cstopb,-echok: # :xc#0:rw:\ Does anyone have the proper (working) 'printcap' for a LaserWriter NTX? Does anyone know why 'lpd' is going to sleep after sending part of a large file. The printer was/is connected to a COMPAQ 386 and works like a charm. We unplugged the cable from the COMPAQ and hooked it up to the DS5000, hoping it would work. No such luck. Anyone with any ideas? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike marak@antares.concordia.ca
