[comp.sys.dec] DEC 5000/120 and 5000/200

jensen@milton.u.washington.edu (Lars Jensen) (04/20/91)

Can somebody out there explain to me the difference between DEC 5000/120 and
DEC 5000/200? There is a large difference in price, but the brochures I have
does not explain the difference. Thanks.

                                                  Lars

	Lars,

In regards to your question on the system variants, I'm afraid
that we are only allowed to discuss the attributes of announced
	product models. Sorry.

				Thanx,
				  AJ

I don't think I can comment on why (yet) -- but there are a limited
number of ways to create a "price leader" version of a product, you
should be able to make a pretty good guess.

Of course, I can neither confirm nor deny the existance of the 5000/120.

But if it were a 5000/39 (for example), he could deny it :-)

If this were the company's opinion, I wouldn't be allowed to post it.

I have seen the price list for DS5000/200 and DS5000/100, 120, 125.
Why couldn't DEC people give out info when the customers like us already
have the prices for them?

You should be able to get it under non-disclosure. It seems perfectly
reasonable that they don't want to have random employees giving out
(partial) information early.
